NBA icon Stephen Curry has finalized a one-year contract extension worth $62.6 million with the Golden State Warriors, as confirmed by his representative. This agreement secures Curry's place with the Warriors until the conclusion of the 2026-2027 season, making him the inaugural NBA player to earn $60 million in a single season, according to Spotrac. However, several players who have recently signed long-term deals are projected to surpass Curry's $62.6 million salary in the subsequent year.

Curry, a four-time champion, recently added a gold medal to his accolades with the Team USA basketball squad at the 2024 Olympics, where he scored 24 points, all from beyond the arc, in the final match against France. Known for breaking records, he was the first player to achieve both the $40 million and $50 million annual salary thresholds and has held the title of the highest-paid player in the league since the 2017-2018 season, as reported by Spotrac.

Curry's influence, along with that of other prominent players, contributed to the NBA's recent negotiation of an 11-year, $77 billion media rights agreement with Disney, NBCUniversal, and Amazon, set to commence after the upcoming season. The escalating value of media rights is propelling player salaries to new heights.

Emerging talents, such as Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics, have secured contracts exceeding $300 million over five years, reflecting the league's growing popularity and the unique appeal of live sports on television. At 36 years old, Curry has spent his entire professional career with the Warriors, earning two MVP awards and holding the record for the most three-pointers made in NBA history.

Curry is scheduled to appear on "Squawk on the Street" at 10:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday.
